Time for a bit
of a 40's retro look. After acquiring the Drifter, Digger put on corrugated Road House pipes, a (what I like to call) solo saddle seat and some Harley grips and a small bag up front which really give the bike more character. In the future he plans to put on some saddle bags and since July's end a Classic Indian style fender light was put on as well as a windshield. As for the ride, well folks, it's smooth and the acceleration is, well, smooth and the torque you feel, well . . . yep, still smooth and powerful. The bike handles really well, better than my 800. The sound from the pipes has a nice, although not loud, low rumble. But that doesn't matter because with its style, it doesn't need to be loud. |

| After
having to wait some days to get the best sunlight I could and without
putting too much work into positioning the bike like I wanted, I believe
I captured the look of the pipes. But then again as I look at this page
on the web the picture above right does better. (This would figure wouldn't it.) I do like to ride the bike myself for short trips and you should see my 5'4" self all stretched out on it rarin' to go or scooted up on the seat with my feet on the engine guard. Don't get me wrong, I love to ride my 800 Classic and I fit IN the bike not ON it like the Drifter. For you Ladies out there I would encourage you to try this bike out and don't worry about the extra weight of the bike. As I mentioned above, the bike handles quite well. I know I don't have to tell you men out there to try it out, you'll try just about anything. Hehhehheh! Kawasaki has sent Digger some neat stuff just for being one of the first year buyers one of which is a handle bar clip with the bike's name and number. He loves the ride, loves the look, and will out-talk me about the performance and what a joy it is to ride. | |
