Special thanks to Joke Reijnen for these photos of the Tynemouth lighthouses. We begin our tour with the two jetty lights at the Tyne entrance, the 1895 South Pier Light (left) and the much taller 1903 North Pier Light (right).

The picture below shows all three of the historic Fish Quay lighthouses on the north side of the estuary. The Low Light, in the right foreground, and its twin the High Light, at left, were built in 1807. They replaced the Old Light, built in 1727, which can be seen in the middle distance, just right of center.

Finally, here is a photo of the Herd Groyne light, built in 1882 on a groin on the south side of the estuary, in South Shields.
