Odisha (Orissa) Lighthouses, India

The photos on this page are from the former web site of the Kolkata office of the Indian Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL). The web site has disappeared, but copies of the photos were saved by Klaus Huelse. Thanks to Klaus and to Michel Forand for making these images available to lighthouse researchers everywhere.

False Point Light. This appears to be the original British lighthouse, built in 1838.

Chandrabhaga Light. This robust masonry lighthouse is of a style introduced in the 1960s.

Puri Light. This 25 meter (82 ft) tower, built in 2002, has a design shared by many modern Indian lighthouses.

Gopalpur Light. This 32 meter (105 ft) lighthouse was built in 1967.
