2002 Fire Destroys Keepers Quarters at Reedy Island Range Light

Reedy Island Range Rear Light

A fire of mysterious origin on the evening of April 6, 2002, completely destroyed the keeper's quarters at the Reedy Island Range Rear Light. Bob Trapani, of the Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation, provided this photo showing the lighthouse, which was unharmed, and the ruins of the keeper's quarters. The house had been privately owned but unoccupied for many years; it had been reported before the fire to be in poor condition.
