Maryland Point Light

Thanks to Gilbert James for providing this rare and historic photo of the lost Maryland Point lighthouse on the Potomac River in Maryland. Built in 1892, this lighthouse was demolished in 1963, during a period when the Coast Guard removed dozens of cottage screwpile lighthouses throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. Only four of the cottage screwpile lights survive in Maryland, and only one, Thomas Point Shoal near Annapolis, remains in service as its original location.
