Compare hotel rates
This year has been so much fun. I still have a few months left in the semester but I feel that it will be much of the same. I never thought George Mason would be this fun the way all of my teachers and my parents told me about how different and how much more work I would have to do when I got there. Now that I have been here for about six months I see that it is a lot of work, but it is also so much fun. I am not a sports fan or a drama club kind of person, but I am a school person. I have found it to be so much more interesting to learn here what I never would have seen in any of my high school books. There also the freedom that I feel from my parents and my childhood. I am starting to feel like a real adult here. Though my parents still pay all of my bills and call me once a week to make sure everything is going well, I still feel like I have a huge amount of responsibility on my shoulders. I mean I have to make sure that I get all of my work done and that I don’t overcharge my Visa card and I don’t screw up any of my tests. That is a huge responsibility compared to what I had to do last year. Now I am even trying on a bigger responsibility; I am planning my first vacation for myself. I told my parents that I would do everything from comparing hotel rates, to the actual hotel reservation. So I have been using Google a lot. Once I have the whole trip I will turn over the bills to them and they will foot the whole bill. I have never had to compare hotel rates or search for plane tickets so all of this will be a big learning experience for me. I have even decided that I will try to do the responsible thing and try to find the best hotel deals so that my parents have less weight to bear for this trip. I haven’t quite decided where I am going to go yet but I am sure that there are plenty of places for me to go in the world. I think I will consider Thailand.
