hotel tea

Most hotels have one thing in common - tiny bathrooms. They also happen to share a supply of rather lackluster tea and coffee offerings. The standard tea bags might suffice in a tea emergency, but you can't imagine rushing home to your tiny bathroom to curl up in the inferior armchair with a cup of boring tea. You want terrific tea every day, and you should have it whether you're on the road or not.

Forward Thinking Hotels

The hotels with forward thinking managers or marketers know that there is a much larger population of tea drinkers than one might think. And that population is growing. There are tiers of beverage service at hotels. The bottom tier provides hot coffee in the lobby that is reasonable. Tea bags sit neglected in a little basket by the hot water dispenser. The middle tier brings in designer coffees and a wider selection of teas, but nothing like the upper tiers who provide designer teas along with the coffee varieties.

Be Prepared

Unless you've traveled to a particular hotel in the past, you never know what you're going to find in the lobby or kitchenette. Even the most deluxe hotels might not be aware yet of how much a quality tea offering can appeal to a large portion of its guests. Never assume your tea needs will be taken care of. Throw a box of deluxe teabags into your carry on and you'll be able to brew up an easy cup of deluxe hotel tea whether you're two, three or four stars for the evening.

If you arrive in a hotel which offers a better tea selection than most, you should try any teas that appeal to you. While you might prefer your own variety and blend, travel is often a time of discovery. It could very well be that a particular hotel made an impressive discovery before you did. Only a taste will tell!
