Assumptions
- Since each player's moves are independent of the other
players (including who owns which properties), we need only include one
player in the model.
- Player moves depend only on the dice and the Chance and Community Chest cards.
- Chance and Community Chest cards are shuffled after each use, and
the "Get Out of Jail Free" cards are never removed from the decks. Both of
these assumptions contradict the
official
rules,
but they are necessary simplifying assumptions.
- In both papers, the authors use a roll of the dice as the basic unit
of time, but Ash
and Bishop use a scaling factor to present their results
per turn. (By
the rules of the game, a player who rolls doubles rolls again
in the same turn, up to three rolls per turn.) For simplicity, all
results presented here will be per roll.
