Syndromes - Brief summaries of congenital syndromes. A Microsoft Word formatted version is also available.

Applications
Doc Readers

AportisDoc - Freeware, but the free version has some limitations.
MobiPocket- Freeware. Can also read HTML files.
WordSmith - Not free - about $20?. A combination MemoPad and Doc Reader. I highly recommend it. Some nice features include the ability to filter memos by typing part of it's title and to add text formatting to memos can have formatting. Can EASILY use files in rich-text format - it even comes with a desktop component that allows transfer to and from MS Word.

Other Applications

BackupBuddy - A great, almost essential program. Completely invisible. It backs up ALL your applications and data whenever you sync.
Converter - Easily converts units.
DiddleBug - A nice program for when you just have to doodle something. Also, allows you to set an alarm, so your doodles (e.g., written text) pops up and "bugs" you.
ePocrates - Free drug database. Very handy!
HanDBase - A very nice relational database program. Costs about $30. Here is the current version of my Case Log set of databases - always a work in progress!
LendBorrow - Use it to keep track of everything you loan or borrow to/from others.
MathPad - A great, cheap program for doing calculations. I like it better than MedMath or MedCalc because you can program your own equations. It is shareware - I'm sharing a copy here so you can try it, but please register and pay the author if you keep it. To make installation easier, I've put other files you may want to download (and install to Palm) here:

This math library file, in order to use certain math functions (e.g., log, trig, ...). It is free software covered by the GNU Library General Public License.
If you want all the formulas I am currently using, just install this file after you install MathPad.
If you just want specific equations, here they are (copy and paste ... instructions provided).
I converted the instructions into DOC format, available here (a DOC reader is required) so you can always have it on hand.

MedCalc - Has a lot of medical equations built in. I don't really use it, but have tried it out; looks fairly useful but not specific for anesthesiologists. I use MathPad instead - it can be customized very easily.
Palmacokinetics - a very nice program that calculates blood and effect site concentrations of IV drugs. Could use a few improvements, but even now is a very functional program. May be useful in teaching/learning how to manage infusions.
Pendragon Browser - A nice alternative to AvantGo. Pretty easy to use. Free for non-commercial use. Go to the PDA page for information on how to set it up.
Plucker - An open-source alternative to AvantGo and other (offline) web page browsers. It takes a little more work to set up, but browsing on the Palm is lightning-fast! Major problems: no Mac support, I think, and it doesn't automatically update. Go to the PDA page for information on how to set it up. ConvertIt is a graphic front end to make adding web sites easier.
PunchClock - Want to know how many hours/week you actually work? It worked pretty well!
Showtimes - Download local theater schedules. A bit more powerful than AvantGo: allows you to include several zip codes, exclude theaters you don't go to, and even get plot summaries (when available) from the Internet Movie Database.
Strip - Secure Tool for Recalling Important Passwords. Sort of like a keychain - keeps track of your passwords, private info, etc. in a password-protected way.

Desk Accessories (DA's)

Not compatible with the new Palm OS (5)
Launched by a DA launcher (a hack) such as App/DA Launcher.
Nice b/c you don't have to quit the current app to run a DA - a new window pops open, then goes away when you're done.

Hacks

HackMaster - Essential tool if you would like to tweek your Palm. There are probably thousands of hacks out there, which will add to or improve your Palm's functionality.
X-Master - free alternative to HackMaster. Updated much more recently.

App/DA Launcher - A GREAT way to quickly launch programs without having to go the Palm application screen. Also keeps a history of recent apps for quick relaunch, and can go back and forth between two apps with a single penstroke.
Daylight Savings - automatically corrects for daylight savings
MegaWiki - a pretty amazing hack that allows you to create all sorts of links (like in web pages) within any Palm app that uses text fields. It is somewhat complicated - just learning how to use it myself, but it looks really cool!
Middlecaps - makes it faster to write capital letters.
Switcheroo - quick app launcher; just type a stroke then a letter.
