Message to the Czar
- With each departure the player with the third remaining courier
that is left behind in the inn gets a ruble coin and thus begins
collecting during the game the later needed sum. The coins are taken
from those lying face down on the palace. Each player may look at his
own money at any time, but the fellow players sees only the number of
coins, not their value.
- Whoever presses forward too quickly will lack rubles when they
reach the final rank, whereas by delaying their departure and remaining
in an inn while others depart, they have the advantage of collecting
rubles before reaching the Czar's palace. Players may consciously avoid
advancing their courier and their fellow players may want to push
another player forward prematurely.
- If a player arrives at the gate guard and already has the
necessary money, then he can hand over his telegram to the Czar and
win. If he did not yet collect sufficient rubles, he hands over his
telegram to the attendant and continues to play normally, until he
possesses the necessary sum. If the money at the palace is used up,
that money must be procured from somewhere else. He takes a hidden
ruble from one of his fellow players, instead.
- The first messenger is the one pointed to by the arrow. The
second is the messenger next to him. When the first and second are
moved out of the inn, the one left behind gets the ruble.
