Droperidol (if given at all, 10 mcg/kg) and dexamethasone (150 mcg/kg,
up to 8 mg) given early are effective and economical alternatives.
Consider adding ondansetron for those patients at especially high
risk for PONV, or substituting it for droperidol in patients at
particularly high risk for side effects (e.g., pediatric patients). NOTE:
this may have changed for each attending because of the recent FDA warnings
... check first.
