ACC Exclusionary Criteria
  1. Any patient or procedure requiring invasive monitoring.
  2. Body weight > 300 lbs.
  3. Known or anticipated difficult airway.
  4. Blood product requirement.
  5. Problems with or absence of responsible adult or chaperone.
  6. Patients with HbSS (sickle cell disease) who have had a crisis in the past 6 months.
  7. Term infants <2 months of age (chronologic).
  8. Premature infants (<37 weeks gestational age at birth) that are <60 weeks post-conceptual age.
  9. Poorly controlled systemic diseases (e.g., HTN, CAD, renal disease, diabetes); unstable ASA class III and IV.
  10. Epidermolysis bullosa patients.
  11. Patients or procedures where post-op ventilation is anticipated.
  12. History of malignant hyperthermia (MH). Advance preparation of anesthesia equipment for these cases is required, which consumes time and slows case turn around times. There is also a risk for delayed (PACU or post-discharge) complications.
