It is my friend Tacia's feast day, and we just had tons of yummy Greek food, my favorite. There's this tradition where you boil eggs and dye them red, and then everyone tries to crack each other's egg when you hit them with your own egg. The person who is left with the uncracked egg after everyone goes (like rounds in a tournament) has good luck for the year. My egg cracked on the first shot. Oh well.

Sometimes you're flipping through the channels on the TV and something pretty amazing happens. Although I would like to pretend that I'm too cool to watch
VH1, I stumbled across something quite amazing today while peeking at the video countdown:
Jason Mraz. He has song #19, called "
Remedy." So, Jason downloaded some of his stuff for me, and I have to say I've finally found some new music that I really like. Its a mix between John Mayer and Matchbox Twenty, I think...although I'm still listening, so that analogy might change.

Tomorrow is the last class that I will ever teach as a graduate student, a graduate teaching fellow or graduate teaching assistant or any of that jazz. Pretty soon I will be "on the other side," a faculty member. The reality hit home today when a future colleague of mine (i.e., someone who was on my dissertation committee just months ago!) asked me to be on a faculty committee next year. Uh oh.

Okay, okay. Its been a while again. I get absorbed in my teaching during the week, and the time flies by. This weekend I am Spring cleaning, and it feels fantastic. There's nothing better than cleaning away the grime and grit of a winter season. It sounds loony, but its true. It feels very productive, very human.
Went to the Farmer's Market and grabbed some tomatoes and cheese. Two basics for life. Also bought a plant today, some beautiful cala lillies. I think its officially spring in my mind. All I need now is a baseball game, complete with hot dogs.
Lots of fun stuff happening: my best friend is coming to town, another friend has his translation of a play being performed by PlayMakers, a professional theater company here in Chapel Hill, and its stormy. Yeah...good stuff. I'm most excited about Chrysty being here SOON!!!
