URLs listed below were selected by students enrolled in the Introduction
to American Law course. Students were asked to identify and evaluate
useful sites for research about their home countries, or sites of personal

Australia
Legal Information Centre. This site is maintained by the World
Wide Legal Information Centre, a non-profit corporation from Canada and
includes information about the government of Australia as well as links
to legal sites.

Australasian
Legal Information Institute. This is a joint venture of several
Australian Universities. The AustLII collection contains full-text databases
of the most recent Australian decisions and legislation.

Law
Council of Australia. This site is maintained by the National
Council of Lawyers, Australia's national professional legal organisation,
and includes links to other legal sites of interest to Australian lawyers.
Canada

Supreme
Court of Canada - Decisions from the Court since 1993 are available
on this site jointly sponsored by the Court and the Centre de Recherche
en Droit Public at University of Montreal.

to Justice Network, ACJNet - This keyword searchable site provides
links to a great variety of Canadian legal resources available on the Internet
and is designed for the Canadian public as well as attorneys.

Legislative
materials - ACJNet provides links to federal and provincial legislative
materials at this site.
France

Le
Ministere de la Justice home page. This is the home page of the
Sectretary of Justice in France. The site provides a basic explanantion
of the judiciary system in France. It is a beautiful home page with
illustrations taken from museums around the country and includes the text
of selected important laws.

The Senat
Home Page - The Senat is one of the houses of the
Congress. This server provides information about its present activities
including the text of debates, selected reports, a library service and
links to other judicial services. The site also includes
information about the composition and functions of the French Senate.
Most information is in French and English.

The National
Assembly - The National Assembly is the second house of the Congress
and the most powerful, especially in finacial matters. The server
provides information about its present activities, a library service and
links to other judicial servers.

Conseil
Constitutionnel - This court is in charge of the judicial review of
laws after their enactment. The court provides the first interpretation
of laws.

Constitution
- This site includes the text of the Constitution of the Fifth Republic
in French.

- LANIC - The Latin American Networking Information Center (LANIC)
at the University of Texas at Austin provides access to academic databases
and information services throughout Latin American and includes this site
on Mexico.

Netherlands

Business
Monitor - This site provides access to business information and
international trade information including legislation and the full text
of articles written by attorneys and other business people; countries covered
include The Netherlands, France and the UK. Legal topics in The Netherlands
include Dutch company law, commercial law, property law and competition
law in English.

Schools in The Netherlands are linked at this site. The site

Scotland

The Scots Law Site
- This site includes links to Scottish Lawyers; short
news items from the Scottish Courts provide an introduction to the law
of Scotland.
United
Kingdom

Acts
of Parliament Full text of new Public General Acts from 1996
on via Her Majesty's Stationary Office. Summaries of earlier statutes.

Statutory
Instruments from 1997. This is the English equivalent of the
rules and regulations published in the US in the Federal Register
and CFR.

House
of Lords decisions. The House of Lords is the final court of
appeal on points of law for the whole of the United Kingdom in civil cases
and for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in criminal cases. Judgments
from late 1996 are available.

The
Times includes a law section which covers recent trials and other legal
information. To find a Times law report go to its date, search under Britain
and scroll down to Law Reports.

Electronic
Law Journals. This site is designed to promote the electronic
publication and reading of law journals within the academic community.

Kingdom Legal Information Centre. This site provides background
information about government and the legal profession in the United Kingdom
as well as links to legal sites. The site is maintained by the World
Wide Legal Information Association, a non-profit corporation from Canada.
