My humble little shrine to the goddesses

  Amy Ray                                   and                                             Emily Saliers

(these pictures were taken at the wake forest show on 10/20/97  by my friend mary)

These girls never fail to inspire me.  Their music is an incredible combination of beautiful music and harmoines intertwined with their their strong beliefs.  They touch my soul and heal my heart.  I have learned more from the indigo girls about my world and myself than i can possibly describe.  They have without a doubt, made me a better, kinder person.
Amy and Emily speak out about the persecution of native americans, race relations, gay rights, environmental issues and intolerance, to name just a few issues.  But what continuously amazes me is their capacity to love and accept everyone. As amy says, "every devil i meet becomes a friend of mine".
I have seen them in concert four times so far and it has been absolutely fabulous.  Seeing them live is undescrible.  The crowds are always great and amy and emily have a unique way of connecting to the audience.  The entire atmosphere is simply inspirational.     Here are some pics of their spring concert here at unc. (oh- and I GOT TO MEET EMILY!!)
Saw the girls at lilith in va beach on 7/21. The 22nd is emily's birthday, so the whole ampitheater sung to her. how wonderful! Here's a bit about the show
On October 1st, '98, I drove to Clemson University w/scottie and megan to see the Spitfire Tour. It was so great!! Amy spoke for about 15 minutes on gay and lesbian rights, and then after the other speakers, the audience could break up into smaller groups and discuss the issues with the activists. So naturally, we went to see Amy.  I got to sit in a room w/her and about 30 other people for over an hour and talk about everything under the sun!!!  It might just have been the highlight of my life....here is a transcript of her speech.
