Hey there, as you can see I am currently attending UNC-CH, one of the (imnsho) best universities in the US. I'm a history major that recently converted from computer science. While I am very into computers and science, once past the intro programming courses where the focus was on programming, I simply wasn't interested in the compsci course material. So I stopped treating college like job training and decided to study something that really interested me. History, especially asian history, has always fasinated me and I'm very excited to finally be studying it.

I live with my brother in an apartment in Chapel Hill that we affectionately title, "The Geek Compound". Actually it's full name is the "Stratford Hills Geek Compound" to distinguish ourselves from the Geek Compund of slashdot fame that we totally ripped off.

I listen to a lot of music, from a lot of musical categories. Check that lil music list in my info and if you are ever logged into an offical napster server look for gulthek2001 and browse (if you are lucky enough to be running a napster client that supports browsing) my files or search for the stuff I have posted.

I am a spicy foods freak, I haven't yet found the pepper that can best me and I've eaten raw jalapeños fresh from our garden at home. But I'm always searching for that new spicy food or salsa. Mmm, incapacitating.

I guess now's a good time to mention that I'm an obsessive fan of the Simpsons. Gimme a quote or show me an episode and I'll be probably be able to give you a plot synopsis, though my powers have faded as a result of my studies at Chapel Hill.

I like Linux, Linux good, Linux free. I use programs on Linux that are freely distributed that rival or surpass programs that I have to pay for on other, less modern operating systems.

We're plugged into a sweet DSL connection thanks to Telocity. If you're looking for a good, Linux-friendly, DSL provider, I haven't had any trouble with them. The fact that they got our DSL connection online three weeks earlier than they predicted wasn't too shabby either.

Feel free to send me some e-mail at stephen@lords.com, encrypted or not. :-)
