A perspective view of Pitt's Cathedral of Learning. The main reason I chose Pitt for undergrad!

Wide view of the Cathedral

Heinz Chapel at Pitt, the location of Jeff and Jen's wedding

The hanging of the pinata

Pinata hung

Pinata falling after one good hit...

Second try on the floor...

Close up of the doomed zebra...

Resorting to the hammer!

Wham!

Contents of the pinata

Close up of damage

Close up of the contents...150 dollars in ones, condoms, and Magic cards (yes...we are proud to be geeks!)

Dead pinata!

In October, 2005 I was invited to a recruiting trip by ExxonMobil to learn about Salt Tectonics and implications on oil exploration. It was held in SE Utah, centered on Moab, and we investigated salt tectonic problems and issues in Cannonlands National Park and Arches National Park. It was my first time to Utah, and it was an absolutely beautiful time to visit!

A view of the Colorado River from Deadhorse Point.

Impact crater or collapsed salt dome??? Nobody knows for sure!

The field vehicles...a bunch of Excursions, which by the way suck off road!

A picture of a jack rabbit that I happened to get

The La Salle Mountains

A not-so-good picture of the Moab Fault as seen in Arches National Park.

A picture of the Paradox Formation, the salt-bearing formation in SE Utah (and parts of Colorado/Four Corners area)

Picture of Double Arch (I think...) in Arches National Park

Hummingbird Arch in Arches National Park

One last arch in Arches...
Pictures from Duke Gardens one nice spring day...

Here are the best pictures/video I could get of Franklin Street after the game...

• Video of some of the chaos...make sure your sound is on!

Picture of Mt. Ord, near Barstow/Dagget, CA. This was near the beginning of the trip when rainshowers were threatening the area.

Nice picture of the limb of the fold Emily was mapping. Notice the nice bedding, some of the best we saw on the trip.

Mike taking his aggression out on a poor outcrop...trying in vain to find bedding...all in the name of geology!

Nice picture of what we lovingly call 'the pink stuff' or rather Peach Springs Tuff...this was one of our mystery rocks before Mike got into town.

Proof I saw the beginning of I-40 in Barstow, CA...almost got in trouble for taking this picture by a cop...nothing unsual for road-side geologists!

Pretty sunset picture I took from the hotel parking lot on the last week.

Sunset picture at Huntington Beach...my first and only encouter of the Pacific Ocean in my life...good first impression!
Here's some pictures I took at field camp. Unfortunately I didn't own a digital camera yet, so all of these pictures are scanned and not of the best quality.

B&W of path up Croagh Patrick in Ireland. This is the same trail St. Patrick is thought to have climbed up barefoot.

B&W of the Cliffs of Mohr. The picture on my home page is me peering over the edge of the cliffs.

The "sacred tree of Cur". This was my only refuge at my final field mapping project in Ireland. It was the only cover from the many rain showers.
The few pictures we can still find from India...I hope to get some more at some point. Most of these pictures were taken by my dad and some are a little askew...

Katie, Dan, and my Dad with a two sisters from the mission. I think this was taken after my mom and I had left to go back to the US.

A market in Calcutta

Another colorful market picture

This is Carey Baptist Church. The building to the right is the dormitory of Calcutta Bible College, where my family stayed.

A service held at Carey Baptist Church.

Typical sidewalk in Calcutta, but appears to have been taken early in the morning (usually many more people out!).

Picture of a courtyard...not quite sure where exactly this was taken (heck it was taken over 5 years ago!)

A view of a street in Calcutta, taken early in the day. Note the old British taxis.

Hahahaha....Rash and dangerous driving punishable...can't count the amount of times I feared for my life in taxis while there!

Picture taken from the front seat of a taxi.

Garbage in the streets of Calcutta. This is a mild instance, it is a very poor and dirty city.

Two sisters from Mother Teresa's charity. Our goal was to volunteer for their organization to help the poorest of Calcutta.
My list is finally getting better...with the cross-country road-trip its looking a bit more red (visited). You can include Puerto Rico in there if you want, they are technically a territory of the US...but not really a state.
I think this is a little less sad. Below are the countries I've visited shaded in red. I didn't include countries I was in during a layover but didn't step out of the airport (Switzerland and South Korea).
