Summary

I hope to someday work in the marketing department at a pharmaceutical company as a graphic designer. I am 20 years old and a native of Durham, North Carolina.  I am a journalism major in the UNC-CH School of Journalism and Mass Communication.  I hope to graduate from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Fall 2002 with a Bachelor of Art's degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Art History. I am very creative and have great organizational skills.  In my spare time, I like to draw, read, and spend time with friends and family.
Education
Major and Track: Expected graduation date from the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication is Fall 2002 with a BA degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Art History.

Distinctions: Inducted into the UNC Chapter of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars on September 5, 2000, made the Dean's List in Fall 1999, Spring 2000 and Spring 2001, carry a GPA of 3.512.

Athletic Achievements:

Professional Experience
Position: Buy the Yard, a retail fabric store.  Part time during Summer - Fall 2000.  Beginning duties were inventory checks, filing, fabric organization, updating fabric pricing guides, and running errands.  Promoted to sales associate after one and a half months.  Duties as sales associate included, assisting customers with fabric coordination, selection and measurement.   

Position: Internship at West & Vaughn Advertising Agency, research/new business department.  Part time during Summer 2000.  Tasks were researching new business leads and compiling a comparative analysis report on client MyDailyHealth.com.  Sat  in on meetings, observed day to day operations, and expanded  knowledge on graphic design while spending time in the Creative Arts Department.

Position: Assisted in the Fall 1999 and Spring 2000, UNC Softball Clinics.  Worked with girls, ages 7-17 from all over the United States with varying levels of skill, on improving fast-pitch softball skills.  This required lots of support, tolerance, and patience as well as encouragement of my students.

Personal Background

Family: All of my family resides in Durham, North Carolina.  My father, David Fox, is the owner of Triangle Trailer Rentals, Inc., an intrastate freight hauling business.  My mother, Cynthia Fox, retired early from the Environmental Protection Agency after 26 years of service.

Hobbies: I enjoy reading, watching movies, playing tennis, and spending all the time I can with family and friends.

Personal Accomplishments: While at Riverside High School in Durham, I:

  • Recieved the 1999 Principal's Service to the School Award (1 of 4 presented in a class of 330)
  • Was a member of the National Honors Society, the Spanish National Honors Society, and the Spanish Club
  • Nominated for the the Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship Athletics Citizenship Award
  • Was the Senior Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen
  • Was voted the most athletic female in my senior class.
Skills
Skill: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and FrontPage.  Experience in Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and Netscape Composer.
