As of the fall of 2006, I am entering my sixth-year of graduate studies in the Department of Health Policy and Administration in the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to attending UNC, I received a Bachelor of Arts in international public policy in 1998 at the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University. I graduated with my Master of Science in Public Health in 2003 at UNC and began the Ph.D. coursework that fall.

My minor field is economics and my research interests include mental health policy and mental health services research, the role of spirituality and religiosity in health, and racial health disparities.

I was also a member of the first graduating class of the Interdisciplinary Certificate in Health Disparities in May 2005.

This fall I am teaching the introductory statistics course for first-year master's students in my department and working on my dissertation proposal through support of a pre-doctoral traineeship funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research.

My hobbies include volunteering as a DJ at WXDU 88.7fm, following college basketball (especially the ACC and the Duke Blue Devils), listening to NPR on WUNC 91.5fm, reading, playing backgammon, and live music.
