PLCY 788 - Advanced Micro Theory for Public Policy
This (along with PLCY 789) is a required core economics course for PhD students in the Department of Public Policy. It covers consumer theory, producer theory, and competitve market equilibrium using multivariate calculus. Empirical examples are presented through the course to motivate the theory and demonstrate the relevance of the theory for addresing public policy issues and problems. Intermediate microeconomic theory and multivariate calculus are pre-requisites for this course. The math review course taught by the Department of Economics (ECON 210) is strongly recommended as a prerequisite. Prospective graduate students should look over the syllabus and problem sets and contact me if they have questions about their current economics training.
PLCY 789 is taught in the Spring and covers exensions to consumer theory, uncertainty and information, general equilibrium and welfare, and game theory.
