John Akin, Ph.D. Professor, Economics Department, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Ph.D., University of Michigan, Ann Arbor). During his tenure as Senior Economist at The World Bank, Dr. Akin was the principal author of the Bank's official policy paper on healthcare finance. He has worked in numerous developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. Besides The World Bank, he has worked for USAID, WHO, the government of Indonesia, and numerous other international organizations. Dr. Akin is currently a research fellow at the Carolina Population Center in Chapel Hill.

Philip Brachman, M.D. Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Professor, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. (M.D., University of Wisconsin.) Dr. Brachman has written two books, fifteen technical reports, chapters in twenty books, and 57 scientific papers published in referred journals. In 1979 he received the University of Wisconsin Medical Alumni Citation and, in 1984, the Distinguished Service Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Giridhar has published several research papers and reports, and has consulted widely on behalf of major international organizations in several countries of the region.

Sagar C. Jain, Ph.D. Professor, Department of Health Policy and Administration; Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Director, EPDC. (Ph.D., Cornell University.) Dr. Jain has extensive international experience; he has published twenty-five books and monographs and many papers.

T.N. Krishnan, Ph.D. Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Dr. Krishnan has been a consultant for the U.N. and is currently a Member of the National Committee for the Promotion of Social Welfare, Government of India. He has authored or co-authored twenty-two research papers and four monographs.

Udai Pareek, Ph.D. Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Ph.D., University of Delhi.) Dr. Pareek has held senior academic positions at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, University of Udaipur and the National Institute of Health Administration and Education. He has consulted widely, including several years in Indonesia, and has published over 250 research papers and books.

Krishnamurthy Srinivasan, Ph.D. Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Executive Director, Population Foundation of India, New Delhi. (Ph.D., Kerala University.) Dr. Srinivasan has served as a consultant for many third world countries, and was awarded the Scroll of Honor by the People's Republic of China. He has authored or edited nine books on population dynamics and has published about one hundred research articles.

Prem Talwar, Ph.D. Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.) Dr. Talwar has served as a consultant to the World Bank, Population Council, UNFPA and other organizations. He has over two hundred published research articles to his credit.

William N. Zelman, Ph.D., C.P.A. Professor and Director of Master's Programs, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Ph.D., University of Washington.) Dr. Zelman chaired the Task Force on Healthcare Financial Management and served as the Chairman of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration to reform teaching in health finance. His extensive consulting experience includes work in Indonesia and Latin America. He has authored or co-authored four books and numerous articles.

Laurel Files, Ph.D. Associate Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Associate Chair, Health Policy and Administration. (Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.) Dr. Files has Masters degrees in both Business and Political Science; her resesarch focuses on strategy formulation and interorganization coordination (specifically regarding national population programs). Dr. Files has significant overseas experience in Asia, Africa and Baltic Countries. She is an expert in case writing for CASIM, and has many publications to her credit.

She has more than twenty publications to her credit.

Ramesh Bhat,Ph.D. Adjunct Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Ph.D., Delhi School of Economics.) The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, (1985-86). Dr. Bhat has extensive consulting experience for the Asian Development Bank, Government of India, FAO, and others. He has published three books and twenty-seven research papers and reports.

Shiv Dutt Gupta, M.D., Ph.D. Professor and Dean, Indian Institute of Health Management Research. (M.D, University of Rajasthan; Ph.D., John Hopkins University.) Dr. Gupta has extensive experience in the health and population system in Rajasthan and other states in India, and has played a significant role in the formulation of a program strategy in the family welfare program of the government of Rajasthan. He has many reports and several publications to his credit.
