The Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) is a private, not-for-profit institution of higher learning, established in October 1984. The Institute is located outside of Jaipur, the Pink City, famous for palaces and forts. Jaipur is the state capital of Rajasthan, and is roughly 200 miles south of New Delhi and west of Agra (site of the Taj Mahal).

The Institute is devoted to improving standards of health and family welfare services in the country. Expanding rapidly since its inception, the Institute now has a fifteen acre campus, including academic and administrative buildings, a club house, hoste ls for students, and housing for faculty and staff. The Institute maintains a faculty and research staff including programmers and data analysts. Institute faculty have been involved in teaching courses as faculty associates.

Despite its young age, the IIHMR has gained a wide reputation in health management research and has won more than seventy competitive grants for research and training. Among these are grants from Indian Council for Medical Research, the Government of Ind ia (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Social Welfare, and Planning Commission), various State Governments, WHO, The World Bank, UNFPA, ILO, UNICEF, ESCAP, The Ford Foundation, USAID, The British ODA, DANIDA, NORAD, KFW, and others. The P opulation Council, New York, has designated IIHMR as one of its three Collaborative Research Centers in India. The Institute is also a member of the Government of India's National Council on Population Research.
