History of the Church. Official Information about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Although primarily a missionary tool, this website presents the official version of church history. Here, through a variety of links, a brief, church sanctioned version of its own history is displayed.

The Official Internet Site of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This website has a multitude of resources on a variety of topics. Most helpful for those interested in church history, however, are on the Scriptures page. Church History Chronology, Maps, and Photographs are available, as well as full-text Mormon scripture. The photographs are accompanied by short descriptions of historical events of import to the church. Also helpful is the Gospel Library, which contains full-text articles from church periodicals as well as "current Church curriculum." In addition, the Pioneer Story details the Mormon trek west to Utah, in the 1840s. The presentation includes an interactive map, narrative, journal entries, and pictures.

History and Succession. The Original Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

This site briefly describes the history of a splinter group of Mormonism, who calls themselves by the same name: the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When Joseph Smith was martyred in 1844, several splinter groups left the church, including this sect led by James J. Strang until his death in 1856. Although the churches today are different, some of the same events led to the larger and more commonly known Mormon group. The information here is interesting for a different viewpoint.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). Institute for the Study of American Religion. Cultwatch.

Although information about the church today is outdated, this site is valuable for its relatively unbiased treatment of controversial events in Mormon history.

Good Information on Mormonism. Recovery From Mormonism.

This list of links has been created by ex-Mormons, and is valuable for the opposing viewpoints it presents. Some are biased, although most claim the contrary.

History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons). Robinson, B. A. Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance.

This short treatment of Mormon history encompasses the church's origins until 1978, covering main events and trends. Topics of interest are linked to other resources. Although it is unclear whether the author is Mormon, the history offered here seems relatively unbiased. The LDS Menu link provides a list of web and print resources about the Mormons.
