Ravana Effigy Burning

Dashara is a festival that celebrates Rama's, an avatara of the deity Vishnu, defeat of the demon Ravana that is told in the Ramayana.  Volunteers, mostly from the Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple community, constructed this effigy, using cardboard, metalic paper, garlands of firecrackers, and other combustibles.

After describing the story and the event, the effigy is lit.

As the crowd of temple members and visitors watched, the flames consume the effigy.
