This financial aid help page has been set up to provide a simple and straight forward guide for undergraduates to the process of applying for scholarships, grants, awards, and loans from both UNC and outside sources. While some of this information can be found on the main Scholarships and Student Aid page, this site is a useful quick link source for students to use. Below you will find links to other pages to help you both find and understand your options for financial aid.
Academic Scholarships at UNC: All academic scholarships given by UNC are based upon the information contained in the Admissions application. Except for the Pogue scholarship, which requires a seperate scholarship application AND submission of an Admissions application by November 1, all applicants who apply for admission by the January 15 deadline are reviewed for scholarship eligibility.
FAFSA and CSS/Profile: Need-based scholarships, grants, and loans offered by UNC require submission of these two forms. To receive priority financial aid packaging, they must be received by March 1.
Other Scholarships at UNC: Several university-sponsored scholarships (like the Pogue scholarship above) have special award criteria and require a seperate application. Some of these also require submission of the FAFSA and CSS Profile.
Free Online Scholarship Databases: Useful online scholarship databases that can quickly provide lists of possible outside scholarships to apply for.
Outside Scholarships Divided by Groups: Lists of outside scholarships, divided into seperate groups, that are recommended by the UNC Outside Scholarship Resource Library. A quick way to locate outside scholarships that fit your situation.
Frequently Asked Questions: A list of common questions and answers received by the Undergraduate Scholarship Resource Library.
Contact Information For UNC Departments: Contact information and websites of different UNC departments. As many departments offer their own scholarships, it never hurts to contact your future department before attending UNC.
