I am a lecturer and advisor in the political science department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I received my Ph.D from the University of Minnesota (2009). My primary research interests are American political institutions, the U.S. Congress, Courts, and the separation of powers. My dissertation centers on decision making in the U.S. Senate. My dissertation demonstrates the important role that institutional features play in the decision-making process of individual senators on topics such as party unity, the formation  of legislative agendas, and committee behavior.
