Feeling Stressed But Happy

Are you a healthy individual interested in participating in research on the differences in emotional regulation between age groups?
We are looking for participants for a study where your heart rate, blood pressure and other physiological changes are measured while you view different images and discuss some of your happiest memories and recent events that have upset you. If you are interested in helping us to learn more about emotion regulation, please consider participating in Dr. Sy-Miin Chow's study, Feeling Stressed But Happy (IRB Study # 08-109, Approved 10/06/08 by the IRB, UNC-Chapel Hill). Our Criteria Include
- Ages 18-80
- Men and women
- Willing and able to participate in a short fifteen minute phone screening session, a two hour laboratory session, and a thirty day follow-up study consisting of short daily surveys. You must agree to participate in the follow-up study to participate in the laboratory session.
- You must have no history of psychiatric diagnosis, cancer/chemotherapy, or seizures
- You must not have taken cortisone, prednisone, or hydrocortisone or any other steroids within the past six months
- No substance abuse disorders * No learning disabilities or neurological disorders
- No open-heart surgery or significant head trauma within the past two years
- No implanted neurostimulators, defibrillators,
or
insulin pump
This study provides compensation for both portions of the study at a rate of $20 for the laboratory session, and up to $120 for the follow-up study.
