PC Terms
There
are many terms that are used to describe what I call
philanthropic computing. I originally planned on including a
glossary on this webpage. However, as I began researching the
terms, I learned that many people disagree about the meanings and use
of the words. Therefore, I have included a list of terms that
have been used to describe PC technology for the user to define on
their own.
When searching for PC projects, it would be wise to
search all of these terms. However, it must be noted that some terms
are more appropriate than other terms. The most appropriate terms
(in my opinion) that describe distributed computation in a home
environment are marked.
Terms:
*Bayanihan

cluster computing
consumer grid
cycle sharing
*distributed
computation/computing/distribued processing/distributed system
global computing
grid computing/global
grid/computational grids/global computation
metacomputing
*parallel Internet computing/Web-based
