Biodroids were the result of research performed in 2284 by Müller Cybertechnische Fabrik to determine if android cyberneural systems and endoskeletal frames could be successfully mated with biological tissue.  Biodroids were first constructed secretly for the Imperial government and were employed by the Ministry of Defense for espionage purposes.  The first full production models were introduced at Nuremburg, Earth in 2292.

However, the appearance of biodroids as nearly identical to Terrans created large ethical questions about their status as property.  The demands of biodroids and androids alike resulted in a political scandal when a biodroid workers’ strike at Kiev, Earth on 23 July 2298 became a police massacre of biodroids and humans alike.  The "Kiev Massacre" issue caused a scandal in the Imperial Parliament which was a catalyst in the resignation of Emperor Mélas Dornos.  Biodroids and androids finally received emancipation in 2309.  Their construction is now restricted to petitions by biodroid families.
