Engineered Life Amendment:   The Engineered Life Amendment was added to the Imperial Constitution in 2309 after years of deliberation over the rights of androids and biodroids.  The amendment was the work of Emperor Ybrk Ysstr and the supporters of his political goal to undo the work of the industrialist Emperor Mélas Dornos.  It provided for the full emancipation of all engineered life forms within the boundaries of the Interstellar Organization of United Imperial Worlds and provided the groundwork for their eventual citizenship, which was granted in 2339.
