Gatraxia:
Star
System: Shrai’ vak
Ecology: The atmosphere of Gatraxia is a nitrogen-oxygen blend. Four continents and numerous islands exist, covering almost a full half of Gatraxia’s surface. The planet was almost certainly very similar to Earth prior to the last few centuries. Today, however, the planet is almost totally obscured by a haze of brown smog. It is not clear how much of the planet’s land surface has been developed, but speculations have been as high as 87%. People: The Gatraxian race makes its home on Gatraxia. The Gatraxians are oxygen-breathing humanoids and are omnivores. An average Gatraxian stands 1.8m high and can lift 76 kg Gatraxians are typically hairless and recognizable by a thick brown skin. They have wide mouths and medium-large ears. The race has four fingers per hand and the same number per foot. They are extremely agile, although not always particularly intelligent. Civilization: It is almost definitely a fact that Gatraxian society is still based on the historical clans associated with Gatraxia’s obscure history. It is believed that Gatraxians live in close quarters, accounting for the high planetary population and the over-development of the world. The world is the premiere power of the Southern Alliance, due to its military domination of the other member-worlds, although its power is not always secure. Gatraxia is thought to have placed a large number of plitical officers in their planetary governments as well, so as better to influence allied policy. Research suggests that resources are drawn off the world’s numerous colonies in order to prevent the death of Gatraxia as a planet. Economists assert that this amounts to clear evidence that Gatraxia, and perhaps the Southern Alliance at large, operates under a command economy that suffers from severe corruption. Little else is known. |
