The Kiev Massacre began on the morning of 23 July 2298 when biodroids across the city went on strike.  The biodroids, discontent with their status as property, refused to work and instead began demonstrating in the streets.  Following the arrival of police to contain the action, the demonstrations began to turn violent, as police and biodroids alike were injured as each side fought for control of the street. 

Local inhabitants joined in just as Imperial security forces arrived, at the behest of Emperor Mélas Dornos.  Most of the biodroids evacuated the scene just as the security forces began to fire into the crowd.  Over 90% of the casualties were local Terran inhabitants.  The massacre became a political quagmire for the Dornos government, and is believed to have been a factor in his early resignation.
