Windsor, John Paul:

John Paul Windsor was born 20 March 2302 in London, England to a family of noble stock.  The young Windsor is remembered as a well-disciplined, charismatic student whose school grades never fell below 98%.  Windsor was active in sports and entered the Imperial Military Academy upon completing his High School exams in 2320.  His early career in the academy was one of outgoing attempts to persuade his teachers of his talent, and proving that he should be judged not by his family’s history, but by his own abilities.  By his third year, Windsor had been recognized as a rising star and given the assignment of his choice.  In 2324, he joined the Imperial Corps of Engineers as a lieutenant, where his abilities as a good-natured, natural leader were demonstrated.  After his promotion to Colonel in 2331, he was married to Anna Green, the daughter of a well-known London banker with whom his family had been close friends.

In 2333 Windsor was transferred to the Sunrise Special Training Facility on Dawn, then a school for roughly 23,000 elite troops, and given the orders to build facilities for the relocation of the Imperial Army to the planet.  Windsor designed the new facilities of Dawn City specifically for the support of the Imperial Army’s main body, a force of roughly one million.  In 2338, the construction of the new facility and its metropolis were finished.  Windsor was given a promotion to General, placing him at the head of the Imperial Corps of Engineers.

The invasion of Dawn by the Southern Alliance in 2342 quickly changed Windsor’s career.  Emperor Ivan Romanov was assassinated without giving orders to the army.  Dawn City fell under siege and Windsor supervised the construction of its defenses, but was forced to take control of the army when its leadership was killed in the nuclear attack of 2343.  Windsor quickly organized maneuvers designed to confuse the landing Southern Alliance occupation troops, and successfully destroyed the threat.  At his return to London in 2344, he was hailed as the Hero of the United Imperial Worlds and was almost unanimously elected the new emperor.  His coronation was held on 1 May 2345. Windsor served actively as head of Government for several years, until deciding to appoint Jonathan Simmons as Prime Minister in 2351.
