Well, the blog I had chosen was not really my field of study, but it had to do with some topics that related in a way. After seeing some of the statistics and number he had posted on obesity problems in America i could see how much time he really puts into his field of study. Then i noticed how many published works he had on his study and he must be very well known in the bioethics field.

Blog Assignment 11
I believe my portfolio for unit 2 was stronger because I got the help I was offered I am now used to the way a paper should be written in college and mostly because I worked very hard on it. I also think that my grade will show that I did a much better job on the second portfolio and I plan on making my last protfolio even better then the second.
I chose this certain blog for a reason it was not my first choice but I looked through it and it interested me. In the passed I would have never considered this subject but I will give it a shot for unit 3.

Blog Assignment 11
I believe my work for unit two was stronger then unit 1 because I worked a lot harder and put more effort into each paper. I believe my paper will recieve a better grade because it can't really recieve any worse. I was proud of the work I put in and will continue to work as hard for unit 3.
I didn't chose this topic because I am going to major in it but more because I would like to explore a new path away from my desired major, I want to see if there could be something else that could change my path in life.

Blog Assignment2 Week9
I believe that draft workshops are more effective in class if only we could have a little more time. I personally have a lot going on outside such as lacrosse so it is very hard to meet with my group and I also feel that during class we have you their to help us with any important questions we migth have. So overall i believe that workshops in class could be very effective if we had more time during class.
Blog Assignment 9
While reading my speech to Ashkan I realized that I had not followed the criteria exactly given, anyway I continued with my speech and I felt like an idiot because it was all wrong. Abortion Policies
Abortion in the United States is a controversial issue that is viewed differently by many including the presidential candidates Senator John Kerry and President George Bush; each have shared their views on the very important topic of abortion but clearly Bush has a better more detailed course of action. Senator Kerry who believes strongly on the fact that people have the right to chose never really seems to go into great detail on the topic of abortion where President Bush has made many efforts to make abortion illegal.
Senator Kerry has made his stand that he is not all for abortion but he wants people to keep their right to chose. This is one of the few reasons the Senator gives in order to keep abortion legal. He is also criticized about his religion and how abortion goes against everything he believes. Therefore his argument is very unsuccessful.
On the other side President Bush gives specific plans to support his argument against abortion such as the Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003. This plan attacks abortion giving reasons why abortion should be made illegal. President Bush states “it involves partial delivery of a boy or girl and a sudden, violent end of that life.” This shows the Presidents views of abortion. He stands to defend the innocent while attacking abortion and displaying the inhumanity behind it. President Bush has a way persuade people in the way he approaches issues that our country faces, he does not avoid them he attacks them and that’s the kind of leader that I would want. He is straight forward with his arguments and his plans are well on their way to being used in the future America.
When it comes down to facts and strong arguments Bush is the real deal. He backs up plans of actions with well organized facts that persuade people to take his side. He is a strong leader willing to get the job done where Kerry gives vague details in plans which make him seem to avoid important topics such as abortion.

Draft Workshop Form - October 7, 2004
1. My name is Nick and I read Ashkan’s paper.
2. What do you think are the most promising counter-arguments to the author’s claim? Have these counter-arguments been acknowledged and dealt with effectively in the paper?
The most promising counter-arguments were when the author stated that Senator Kerry’s views on health care did not seem to solve anything but on the other side President Bush brings up many ways to fix these flaws in health care. Overall President Bush just gives more ways to solve these key issues while Kerry only gives two. He does state how Bush does a better job of showing how he will make health care better although he could try and elaborate a little more on each subject.
3. Does the paper have a tight, cohesive and powerful thesis statement?
He has a working thesis which supports his paper, although he could spice it up a little more.
4. Does the author make use of the varied rhetorical strategies we discussed in class? Does the author overuse any particular strategy? Does s/he neglect any?
As a whole the paper was very good he uses various types of writing strategies that makes his writing strong.
5. Does the author support his or her assumptions and conclusions with authoritative evidence? Identify at least one point that might be supported by additional or alternative types of evidence.
He could use more evidence on the plans that Bush brings up, he could also elaborate on Kerry’s plans. I believe he should talk about each group health care effects and discuss the Presidents views on each.

Public Speaking
The one experience I have with public speaking is in highschool. It was a class mandatory to graduate, it consisted of speeches, essays, and powerpoints. The one weakness I had was preparation i never prepared fully to produce a smooth good organized speech. That would be the one thing i would try and improve for our unit 2 assignment.
A Look Back at Unit 1 Portfolio's
Well, i tried to put a well organized set of papers in the portfolio. although i think my papers are fairly decent the one thing that could have had a positive effect on my grade was the draft workshops. I never really exchanged papers with anyone in the group and I always found myself drafting my own papers. The one thing i did do was go to english tutors durign my mandatory study hall and had her help me organize and fix my papers. My biggest goal for unit 2 is to get more involved in the draft workshops also to reverse outline because I did reverse outline my unit one paper and i believe it helped me organize my thoughts completely.
