Writing Assignment #2: Argument Reconstruction

The assignment is to write a point-by-point recapitulation of the most important passages in Kant’s Conclusion of the Prolegomena. In particular, please reconstruct what Kant says in the first part of section 57 (from the beginning of that section, up to, and including, the full paragraph by marginal number 354), and in section 59 to the end of the chapter. (Do NOT continue into the chapter entitled Solution of the General Question of the Prolegomena).

I will strictly enforce the 3-page limit on this assignment (double-spaced, normal margins, normal font). Nevertheless, keep in mind that when you are explaining Kant’s views, more detail is always better. So the challenge is to pack as much detail as you can into three pages.

The assignment is due June 17. Note that this is one day later than the due-date originally proposed in the syllabus.

Please submit BOTH a hard copy of your assignment, AND an electronic version, either as an email attachment (preferred), or on disk. Also, please identify your hard copy ONLY with your PID.

As before, there’s no need to cite secondary sources in this assignment. And again, clear writing is always appreciated.
