Caged

I cannot fly
When I try, my wings are broken
I cannot sing
For my voice will forever be strangled
My soul no longer survives
It cries and weeps of sorrow
Does not speak of consciousness
And loathes the thought of tomorrow
My cage--narrow, my life--used
Hope no longer perches beside me
Nature's healing no longer reaches me
I am No, I am not
