Resource Mothers are community workers trained to identify and mentor at-risk pregnant women about the non-medical aspects of pregnancy and child care. The purpose of this monograph is to guide those interested in implementing the Resource Mothers Program in their own community. It includes topics such as selection of the lead agency, organization and administration, recruitment, training, supervision, client services, and starting a program. The six-page section on training outlines a curriculum, including objectives and a topical outline. Assessment and monitoring forms are included, as are outlines of sample visits. This manual also presents short case studies, a collection of newspaper and magazine articles about the program and childcare, and an extensive bibliography.
