Course Objectives:

        1.   To understand and appreciate the role copyright law plays in the cultural and
intellectual life of individuals

        2.    To understand how basic copyright principles developed and continue to be
embodied in the statute, international treaties and caselaw

        3.    To review how copyright protection has changed with technological developments

        4.    To examine the concerns of the creators, publishers and distributors of copyrighted
works

        5.    To focus on the  users' ability to enjoy copyrighted works as protected by statutory
and judicial limitations, exemptions and exceptions to the exclusive rights afforded copyright
owners


Course Prerequisites:

        First year courses

Grading Policy:

        The grade is based on  a mid-term and a final examination.   Grades may be
improved by outstanding participation in class and online discussions.
