I participated in a UNC-CH Study Abroad Program to Greece in
June 2002 - May 2002. We spent four weeks traveling around the
country, including two weeks on Crete. Classes were held on
site. We sat on rocks and listened to our professor, Dr. McCoy,
lecture about the great achievements of the ancient Greeks.
It was a remarkable experience to actually be sitting on the
steps of the Parthenon while the professor was lecturing about
it. As part of the requirements for the two classes I took in
Greece, I had to write four papers about differenet aspects
of our journey. I was very proud to recieve an A on all four
of these papers. Links to those papers are provoded below:

In the Spring of 2002 I took a journalism history class taught
by Professor Donald Shaw. For this class we had to write two
research papers. The first paper was a Birthday Paper. We had
to examine an issue that was being covered by a newspaper during
both our birthday and the birthday of one of our parents. I
chose to compare my birthday with my Dad's and the issue I chose
to cover was race relations in the News and Observer.
In the second paper we had to compare how newspapers and books
covered the same major event. I examined Pearl Harbor. I recieved
a 98 and a 99 on these papers repectively. Links to those papers
are provoded below:

In the Summer of 2001 I had an internship with the Wilmington
Sharks. The Sharks are part of the Coastal
Plain League, a collegiant summer baseball league that involves
college players from around the country. Play begins the first
day of June and ends in early August. It is a lot like minor
league baseball except for much shorter. I spent three and a
half months with the Sharks and performed many duties including:
managing the concessions stand, selling community packages,
and marketing. However, my primary focus was public relations.
I created the game day programs and wrote numerous press releases.
I was also in charge of making all the media contacts, which
included calling in the box score after every game. It was a
very worthwhile experience. Below are links to some of the press
releases I created:
