Lyon receiving award

GRC DBP Chair for 2009, Dr Benjamin Blount of the National Center for Environmental Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, presenting the student poster award to Bonnie Lyon, PhD candidate in the Weinberg group. Her poster was on the Relationship Between Natural Organic Matter Polarity and Disinfection Byproduct Formation and Speciation During Ultraviolet Treatment and Disinfection of Drinking Water. In the background (click for full version) is the chair-elect for the next conference to be held in 2012, Dr. Manolis Kogevinas. This was only the second Gordon Research Conference on Disinfection Byproducts, a gathering of specialists on interdisciplinary aspects of this field of research from across the world who attend by invitation only. Bonnie was among a select group of students invited to participate; it was the clarity and originality of her presentation that was cited as the unanimous decision by the adjudicating panel in selecting her for the award.

Bravo Bonnie. Next stop WQTC and Seattle in November!!!
