TerraFly®
is an awesome
multifaceted website at Florida International University that is worth exploring in its
own right. It is a very data
dense site and although fascinating as well as informative, it
takes some getting used to. For this
reason, here are three quick links that go right to
views that include Star Field using the TerraFly®
TerraPan feature.
These links work with
Internet Explorer - see below for alternative links for other browsers.* The links start
with the
image centered at specific landmarks in
Cooperstown, NY. If you are not familiar with digital aerial
images, use the first
link since the
Otesaga Hotel and the golf course are easily recognized. Zoom out
for a clear view of Star Field. You can also scroll and pan in
this view but if you want to get the real TerraFly® virtual
flying experience, try the alternative link. Link
1 Centered on the Otesaga Hotel Link
2 Centered on Fenimore House Link
3 Centered on Star Field
* The aerial photographs do not
display in Mozilla (at least not for me) with the above links.
Here is an alternative that works with Mozilla and, of course, IE
too if you want to use this method to do some virtual flying.
Alternative link Go to the main TerraFly.com page. Enter the Cooperstown zip
code 13326. Click the Fly Now! button. This
opens up an information page and loads a java applet that will allow
'flying' over the area. Star Field is north east of town on the
east side of the lake.
