首届中美师生书法作品交流展

             由丹佛中华文化学院,美国汉字书法教育学会(CEG)和上海中华书画学会等共同主办的“首届中美师生书法作品交流展 ” ,2006 6月3-15日在上海孔庙举办, 6月3日上午举行了隆重的开幕典礼, 上海的文化教育界负责人和300多位大中小学生参加并参观了这次中美书画交流展, 这是中美文化教育界一次新的尝试。
            美国四所大学的50幅书画作品(45件学生作品, 5件指导老师作品)给上海的观众留下了深刻的印象,他们称赞说:第一次看到美国学生的书画作品, 没想到写得这么好!这是一次非常有意义的交流。开幕典礼之后, 中美师生还举行了专题座谈会,讨论将这一交流活动继续发展和提高。在Naropa大学和Colorado College 两所大学开设“中国书法与文化” 课程的屠新时老师,以及在Rutgers大学任中国书法课导师的吴玉如老师,代表美国汉字书法教育学会(CEG)参加了这次展览的全部活动。中美双方有共同的愿望:两年以后,再举办一次更广泛更高水平的中美书画艺术交流展。

            On June 3, 2005, the First Sino-American Teacher-Student Calligraphy Exhibition was inaugurated in the Confucius Temple, Shanghai, China. This unprecedented exhibition (June 3 – June 15) was co-sponsored by the Shanghai Calligraphers’ Association, the Calligraphy Education Group (CEG) of the Chinese Language Teachers Association in the U.S.A. and the Chinese Cultural Institute in Denver.

            Hundreds of students and adults interested in calligraphy attended the opening ceremony. More than one hundred pieces of calligraphy work were on exhibit, including one hundred pieces by Chinese and American students (fifty each), their teachers’ as well as some local calligraphers’ excellent works. The scripts of the exhibited works ranged from regular, clerical, and seal to running and cursive.

            The Chinese visitors were very impressed by the calligraphy works of American students, who had only taken calligraphy class for only one or several semesters. The majority of them were done by students of Prof. Harrison Xinshi Tu. He is a well-known calligrapher currently teaching Chinese calligraphy and culture at Naropa University and Colorado College in Colorado. There were also three pieces of work by students of Rutgers University in New Jersey teaching by Prof. Yuru Wu.

              Following the opening ceremony was a panel discussion on issues related to the heritage and the spreading of Chinese calligraphy. All the panelists enthusiastically participated in the discussion and wished that this kind of significant cultural exchange through calligraphy should continue and expand in scope in the future. They also expressed their thanks to people who had contributed to the success of this exhibition, especially to Prof. Harrison Xinshi Tu, who was honored as “Sino-American Cultural Ambassador”. He was presented a framed tablet by the Shanghai Calligraphers’ Association for his strenuous efforts to promote Chinese calligraphy in the United States and the cultural exchange between the West and the East.

中国新闻社报道:破天荒: 50件美國大學生書法作品亮相上海文廟

  中新網  6月3日,上海文廟(孔廟)將第一次迎接來自太平洋彼岸的美國學生創作的50件中國書法和水墨畫作品, 它們將和上海學生的優秀書畫作品一起, 在“首屆中美師生書畫交流展”亮相。這在中美教育和文化交流史上還是第一次。
  此次“中美師生書畫展”由上海中華書畫協會, 美國漢字書法教育學會(CEG)﹐和丹佛中華文化研究院等單位聯合組辦。參加該書畫展的美國學生的書法作品包括中國的格言警句﹐以及著名的詩句等等。有多位學生的作品是在學習了三﹑四個學期書法之後創作的﹐其中幾幅行書草書作品和竹兰水墨画﹐讓人很難想象是出自一開始還“目不識丁”的美國大學生之筆。
  這次展覽交流活動的主要聯絡組織者屠新時先生﹐美国汉字书法教学学会理事,在美國科羅拉多州兩所大學開設中國書法文化課八年多﹑並曾在美國十多所大中小學演講與示范中國書法藝術。他在接受記者採訪時指出﹕ “隨著中國在世界上的影響日益增大, 隨著中文漢字教學的逐步發展, 學習中國書法, 通過書法更深入地理解和欣賞中華文化和藝術, 是美國部分大中學校內一個最新動向。”
  屠新時認為﹐通過教育和藝術欣賞的實踐, 領洋學生入門, 讓他們親自拿起筆, 和漢字有親密的接觸, 從象形文字到篆隸行揩草﹐就會對漢字產生很深的感悟﹐理解何以中華文化千年不斷﹐漢字的不可替代性﹐由此傳承文化﹔這些可以深入到學生的心裡, 改變他們對中國的誤讀。 讓藝術產生輻射與親和力﹐這就是文化藝術柔軟而長遠的力量。学习书法, 同时让外国学中文更有文化艺术趣味, 也促进与强化了中文汉字的学习。
  報道指出﹐這次將展廳設在上海的文廟(孔廟)也深具象征意義: 孔夫子作為最有代表性的文化人物, 孔子學院正在世界各地創辦成立。首屆中美師生書畫展正是體現出中華文化走向世界, 讓東西方共同分享中國的藝術的遠大目標。
