He says his company is not geology or science related, but since he no longer has to travel or work ungodly hours, he has more time to read geology/astronomy and stay current. He'd love to discuss with fellow members those things he always found interesting, such as paleontology and astronomy. 27. Name: Julian Foster
Email: MEADFOSTR@aol.com
Field: Engineering Geology
Location: Indialantic, FL
Bio:
ATTENTION! I'd like to introduce Mr. Julian Foster, our oldest member at 81. I've had several in-depth conversations with this man. This gentleman has probably forgotten more about geology than most of us will ever know, and is still ahead of most of us. If you do not pick this man's brain you're doing yourself an injustice, esp. you youngsters. He's seen things that you will never witness. He had a pair of Bacalaureate Degrees in Geology from Marshall, and an accelerated Masters at MIT before most of us were born. Don't let this knowledge go to wasteÉ He reads like this: "I have not sent any information on my self as I do not want to join the group under false pretense. Sean got my name from my member profile and tho it indicates I am retired, it does not indicate when. I have been retired since 1974 and doubt I have anything to offer except past experience, which goes back to 1947. However, I have enjoyed watching the Forum develop and find the juices still flow when geology in any form is the subject. Actually I would like to be included in the group for selfish reasons to watch and listen and learn. Please take a look at my profile and if think I have a place in the group, advise." Julian Foster lives in Indialantic, Florida. He was an Engineering Geologist and Civil Engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers (Civil Service) from 1947 until he retired in 1974. The work area was KY, Ohio, WV, VA, TN, and NC. He has a pair of Bacalaureate Degrees from Marshall University (1941 & 1946) and an accelerated Masters Program in Soils Mechanics at MIT in 1952. During these years he was involved directly in, or supervision of: foundation exploration and design for floodwalls, levees, locks and dams, earth, concrete, and rock-fill dams for flood control, concrete and flexible pavement design for the Air Force, and materials investigations of soil, rock, and concrete aggregates. Wrote investigation reports, specifications for soil and rock drilling contracts, change orders and completion reports. Did inspections during construction. After retirement he continued for 10 years as a consultant in Engineering Geology and Dam Safety, and two years designing and construction supervision as Resident Engineer of a million cu. Yard rock-fill dam for a private Water Co.

28. Name: Joe
Email: Jfaub69@aol.com
Field:
Location:
Bio:
Joe here sent me a bio/puzzle/encryption. You'll have to let me know how I did Joe. Joe writes, "Yes indeed I am a geologistÉno professional certifications as I believe most of that is a bunch of bull. I am a dirt-bag who spent 10 years in mineral exploration, drilling core, mapping, rock-chip sampling, etc. 5 years in the oil patch mud logging and interpreting seismic data. Now installing shallow groundwater monitoring wells in the name of environmental remediation. Have worked all over the U.SÉdid 6 months on the North Slope. I have seen both wild peridotite, and mariposite hydrothermal alteration mica. Fossil fuel resources are indeed finite. Someday some teenager will fill the tank of our SUV's with compressed hydrogen. Most lamprophyres are in close association with granodiorite intrusives." I'm afraid this was all I could gleam out of Joe's letter.
