‘A freedom to explore’
By working in labs and Carolina's makerspaces, graduating senior Abigail Gancz spent four years exploring and redefining her career path.
The chance to combine the centuries-old information with cutting-edge technology has been one of Abigail Gancz’s favorite parts of her four years at Carolina.
Using 3D modeling technology, the graduating senior used her expertise at Carolina’s makerspaces to create replicas of artifacts from the University’s Research Laboratories of Archaeology, allowing non-researchers to hold and study them, and make a more tangible connection to history.
For Gancz, who majored in biostatistics and anthropology, the opportunity redefined the career path she wanted to pursue after Carolina.
