Racing toward graduation
Watch the video to learn how graduating senior Kenny Selmon found success in the classroom and on the track.
Carolina senior Kenny Selmon found success both in the classroom and on the track during his four years as a student-athlete at UNC-Chapel Hill. He will add to the list of accomplishments when he obtains his undergraduate business degree on Commencement Day on May 13 at Kenan Stadium.
As a member of the track and field team, Selmon recently ran the fastest time in the nation and the fifth-fastest time in the world in the 400-meter hurdles. His hard work and training routine on the track have also helped him succeed in the classroom. Last summer, he interned in the commercial leadership division at Coca-Cola’s Atlanta headquarters. He chose the internship over competing in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, even though he would have been one of the favorites to win a medal.
“Having a successful college career, in a sense, has just given me confidence about what I can be thrown into and then come out of,” Selmon said. “I’m going to take that with me in everything that I do.”
