Carolina junior Eirene Hynes has always wanted to go to a Final Four, so when the men’s basketball team beat Saint Peter’s last week to earn a spot in the national semifinals, she knew exactly what her next step was going to be.

Hynes, along with several of her classmates, piled into a car and drove the 850 miles to New Orleans to cheer the team on from inside the Caesars Superdome on Saturday night.

“It is the most incredible feeling to be able to experience this as a student,” Hynes said from the road. “When I grow up and hopefully have my own family, I hope to tell my kids, my grandkids that I was at the most epic game in college basketball history.”
