Tar Heels celebrate Ramsgiving

Carolina students celebrate Thanksgiving early and give back to the local community at the fifth annual Ramsgiving.

The Tar Heel State.Hundreds of Tar Heels got an early start on the Thanksgiving festivities at the fifth annual Ramsgiving on Nov. 21.

Students gathered at Chase Dining Hall for the Thanksgiving-style dinner hosted by Carolina Dining Services. The event provided an opportunity for students to celebrate the holiday with classmates before heading home for break.

But the evening was more than just a Thanksgiving dinner preview.

In the spirit of the holiday, Ramsgiving participants were also invited to help give back to the community by making bag lunches for the Brown Bag Ministry. All together, the students made 1,000 sandwiches, which will be distributed to the homeless in Durham and Orange counties.
