Meet a new Tar Heel: Alexis Tchakarov
Four-time taekwondo world champion Alexis Tchakarov plans to tap into what she's learned in her sport to help her excel at Carolina.

Alexis Tchakarov discovered her love of taekwondo when she was 10 and has collected an extensive list of medals and titles since then — including becoming a taekwondo world champion, not just once but four times.
As an incoming first-year student, the Tar Heel plans on drawing on her taekwondo experiences and accomplishments to succeed in the classroom.
“I’ve learned a lot of life skills through taekwondo,” said Tchakarov, who plans on studying biology. “I definitely see it crossing over into my life here at UNC.”
