2020 Thomas Wolfe Prize and Lecture

Michael Parker

An interview, reading and Q&A with Michael Parker, recipient of the 2020 Thomas Wolfe Prize.

Praised for the haunting lyricism of his prose, complex characters rendered “brutally alive” on the page, and his vivid depictions of small-town North Carolina and the Big Sky Country of the prairie states, Michael Parker is the author of seven highly acclaimed novels and three books of short stories.

The Thomas Wolfe Prize and Lecture honor the memory of one of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s most famous alumni, Thomas Clayton Wolfe (Class of 1920), author of Look Homeward, Angel (1929).
