A Virtual Symposium in Honor of Professor Perry Hall

Please join the Department of African, African American, and Diaspora Studies for a virtual symposium in honor of Professor Perry A. Hall (1947-2020). The virtual event will feature a panel composed of Professor Michael West, Professor James Stewart, Pierce Freelon, Professor Renée Alexander Craft, and Professor Patricia Reid-Merritt. There will also be performances by Patricia Hall, Jessica Care Moore, Professor Samba Camara, and Howard Craft, and remarks by Omari Hall. The panel discussion will reflect on Professor Hall’s rich contributions to humanity, to the Department of African, African American, and Diaspora Studies, to UNC Chapel Hill, and to Black Studies nationally.

3:00 p.m. — 3:05 p.m.: Opening Remarks: Professor Eunice Sahle and Professor Ronald Williams

3:05 p.m. — 4:00 p.m.: Panel discussion with moderators Ronald Williams and Samba Camara
